Pool No More

Back in March I wrote this about the changes in the rules at the base pool. We had not been back very much since the pool re-opened- maybe once. The kids always enjoyed bringing a friend along, but that's one of the changes - can't really bring a friend since they have be to with their parent.

We did go as a family yesterday after church. And now I'm really convinced that we won't be back. The rule we learned about yesterday really took the fun out of the outing for the kids. As the kids were playing with a dive toy, we were told by a life-guard that there's no toys allowed.

Really?

Seriously?

What harm is there in dropping a dive toy and having the child dive down to get it? And don't forget Drew or I were always "with in arm's length away".

In the end it really doesn't matter. Within a few months they will close the pool for at least a year to do a total renovation - we will be moving before they re-open. If I had known all of this back in November when the pool was closed right about the girl almost drowned, I would have bought one of these above ground pools. At that point we were at our half way point in our tour here in Guam.

But now? We only have nine months left. If we have lived without one now, we can live without one for the next nine months.
