The Book of James

This week started the Spring Bible study session that's sponsored by the ladies group at church.  It's a short session - only six weeks.  And for some crazy reason, I'm teaching one.

Well, actually two. One Tuesday night and the next on Wednesday morning - same class just being offered at two different times.

I wanted to teach again. I haven't taught a class in a year and I miss teaching. I also, wanted to make sure we offered a class that would help the ladies learn how to study the Bible without buying a book. While there are some great and awesome Bible studies out there by some amazing writes and teachers, we all have the ability to learn.

I picked the book of James - I'm very excited!!   I'm using one of Rick Warren's study methods. For each chapter (we'll take one each week) we'll ask these questions:

i. Sin to confess? Do I need to make any restitution?

ii. Promise I can claim? Is it a universal promise or do I need to meet conditions?
iii. Attitude I need to change? Am I willing to work on a negative attitude and begin building towards a positive one?
iv. Command to obey? Am I willing to do it not matter how I feel?
v. Example to follow? Is it a positive example for me to copy or a negative one to avoid?
vi. Prayer to pray? Is there anything I need to pray back to God?
vii. Error I can avoid? Is there any problem that I should be alert to or be aware of?
viii. Truth to believe? What new things can I learn about the Lord – Father, Son, or Spirit or other Biblical teaching I can carry with me this day?
ix. Something to praise God for? Is there something I can be thankful for?

I'm so excited to see what all the ladies and I learn!
